Never Make These Four Mistakes if You Work at a Spa

Every industry has a unique culture and the health and beauty industry is no different.  I’ve worked in the spa industry for nearly a decade both as a technician and in management; I’ve worked in high end resort spas, day spas, and med spas and over the years I have learned a thing or two about what works and what doesn’t in spa culture.

I want to share with you 4 mistakes never to make if you work in a spa.

Don’t Gossip

Have you ever noticed that the ones that are gossiping about others are the ones with no appointments on their schedule?  Don’t let yourself get sucked into the negativity.  Stay positive and professional.

Don’t Have Bad Breath

Whatever your field of expertise the odds are you will be working quite closely to your patient.  If you have bad breath your patient will not be able to think about what you’re saying - trust me - the only thing on their mind will be your breath!

Don’t Be Late

If you’ve worked in a spa before you know that every minute counts.  Our clients are paying a lot of money for our services and expertise.  Respect that by respecting their time.

Don’t Complain

You work in a spa!  Would you rather be in a cubicle?? I didn’t think so.  We’re lucky to work in such a beautiful environment.  If you're having trouble staying positive try starting a gratitude journal.  Write down five things you are grateful for everyday and soon you will notice a shift in your mindset.

So now I want to hear from you - what other mistakes should never be made if you work at a spa?  Let me know in the comments section below.

With so much gratitude,

Daniela XO
