I turn 45 this week. And instead of goals or metrics or a recap of what the year produced, I did something different on this week’s podcast. I got off script.
No frameworks. No strategies. Just an honest conversation about the things I am done apologizing for — and an invitation for you to make your own list.
This post is not a summary of the episode. It is the question the episode asks, turned outward toward you.
My list has five things on it. They are worth naming, because they are probably on your list too, even if you have not written them down yet.

1 – Saying no. This one is first because it is the one I worked hardest on. No is a complete sentence. But I spent years softening it. Over-explaining it. Cushioning it with so many qualifiers that the no almost disappeared. The no has to actually be said. And you do not owe anyone an apology for giving it.
2 – Investing in my business. Addo Aesthetics has required significant investment — in programs, in mentorship, in team, in infrastructure. There have been seasons where that felt hard to justify to people around me who didn’t understand what it takes to build something. I am not apologizing for that. Growth requires investment. And the growth has been real.
3 – Where I am in life. By some measures, I am behind. By others, I am ahead. I spent years inside both of those comparisons — the anxiety of not being enough and the strange guilt of being more than expected. I am retiring both. The only comparison that matters: last year’s version of me.
4 – Loving my life out loud. I have a beautiful family. A loving and supportive husband. A business I am proud of. A community of thousands of spa owners I genuinely care about. I get to say that — without qualifying it, without softening it, without adding a disclaimer. There is a strange cultural pressure in this industry to stay small so others are comfortable. I am opting out.
5 – Taking up space. I have a voice in this industry. I have built a platform and a framework that has worked for hundreds of spa owners. I have opinions and I share them. That is not ego. That is earned. And the same is true for you. You have been building your business, serving your clients, making real sacrifices for years. You have earned your space too.

That is the question this episode leaves behind. Not my list — yours.
What are you still apologizing for? What are you softening, qualifying, shrinking down so it takes up less room? What would you put on that list if you sat down and actually wrote it?
There is something that shifts in this kind of honesty. The clarity that comes with time, the permission you stop waiting for other people to give you and start giving yourself. You know what fills you and what drains you. You become less willing to pretend otherwise.
That is not a milestone you have to wait for. It is a decision. And you can make it at any age, in any chapter, wherever you are in the build.
Write your list. Even if you don’t share it with anyone. Even if it’s just three things. The act of naming what you’re done apologizing for is the beginning of actually stopping.
